Chaos
Chaos is everything I hoped for in a Beauceron, and honestly… he’s been my everything.
He’s smart, intense at times, funny, and very much an independent thinker. He’s not a “turn it off and follow blindly” type of dog, and I actually really respect that about him. He’ll question things, offer his own ideas, and then circle back to me.
He loves being out in the world. Hiking is one of his favorite things; he settles into it so naturally, just moving with purpose and taking everything in. He also loves running in front of the bike, and you can really see how much joy he gets from just moving like that. And then, on the flip side, he’s still the biggest goof… rolling in the grass like nothing else matters.
He loves his toys and can be a bit pushy about what he wants, but I honestly love that about him. He has opinions, and he’s not shy about expressing them.
He’s not a major cuddler every day, but he definitely has his moments where he’ll come over and ask for affection, sometimes fully expecting us to hold his 90-pound self like it’s completely normal.
In training and work, he brings a lot of drive and enthusiasm. We’ve put in a lot of work together over time, and he’s continued to develop and grow through that process. He absolutely can get big in his emotions and can have a serious side, especially with decoys. I see some of Xerxes in him there, haha, but he does listen to me and is able to come back into himself when I ask.
Temperament-wise, he’s socially thoughtful. He reads dogs well, respects space, and doesn’t feel the need to insert himself everywhere. His neutrality has also made a real impact on many of my client dogs; he’s helped them grow, regulate, and make better choices just by being steady and appropriate in his presence. With puppies especially, he’s incredibly patient and playful, and he adjusts himself really nicely depending on who’s in front of him. That part of him honestly feels very Zada.
He’s also fantastic in chaotic environments. Busy places, movement, noise, unpredictability—he can exist in all of that without shutting down or becoming reactive. He processes it, stays connected, and keeps moving forward with me.
At home, he has a solid off switch and settles easily, but when it’s time to go, he’s all in. His “on” is forward and driven, but still connected.
He’s earned his AKC CGC, CGCA, CGCU, and BCAT titles, and we’re still building. But more than anything, he’s just him—full of personality, opinions, humor, and heart.
I’m really proud of him and really grateful to call him mine.
